     Phyllis A. Bohart, 76, of Dunlap passed away at 1:27 p.m. on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at home, with her family by her side.

     Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2011, at St. Vincent de Paul, with Fr. Dustin Schultz as celebrant. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 14, 2011, at St. Vincent de Paul. Interment will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Memorial contributions may be made in Phyllis’ memory to OSF Hospice.

     Phyllis was born in Peoria on August 12, 1934, a daughter of Herbert Andrew and Mary Bonita (Helm) Grimm, Sr. She married Gerald “Jerry” Bohart on September 2, 1952, in Peoria. He preceded her in death on January 13, 2007, in Dunlap. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Grimm, Jr.

     She is survived by her son, Fred Bohart of Chenoa; son, Dennis Bohart of Peoria; daughters, Cindy (Mike) Scime of Dunlap and Susie (Scott) Merrill of Camp Grove; son, Joseph (Holly) Bohart of Ellicott City, Maryland; twelve grandchildren, Amanda Long, Carly Bohart, Michelle Martinez, Mellissa Scime, Mike Scime, Nicole Smith, Charlie Merrill, Alex Merrill, Frank Merrill, Jesse Merrill, Saylor Merrill, and Sam Merrill; fourteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Patricia (John) Bozsoki of Farmington and Sylvia (Greg) Sander of Morton; and brother, David (Mary) Grimm of East Peoria.

     Phyllis and Jerry started Bohart Auction Sales in 1964 and retired in 1996. She was also a realtor/broker for NHS Coldwell Banker, where she served as the former President of the Peoria Chapter of the National Association of Realtors.

     She graduated in 1952 from the Academy of Our Lady. She and Jerry were Charter Members of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, where she was a CCD teacher for eight years. She was also a co-founder of Queen of Peace Crusade.

     Phyllis was an accomplished artist and a member of the Illinois Art League Association.

     Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 428 West McClure Avenue, in Peoria.

I am sorry to hear of Phyllis' passing. I bought the house I live in from her in 1989. I was always amazed that any time that I saw her, she remembered my name and the name of my kids. Quite a feat!
